SAVE AND IMPROVE THE SOCIAL SAFETY NET

You are invited to a Conference to Save and Improve the Social Safety Net (Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other programs). It is co-sponsored by the Professional Staff Congress, the No Grand Bargain Coalition (47 labor and community organizations), and the NYC Alliance of Retired Americans. The speakers include Dean Baker, economist, James Parrot, economist (Fiscal Policy Institute), Mike Zweig (SUNY and US Labor Against the War), and others opposed to using sequestration, the deficit and the debt as excuses to gut our earned benefits/deferred compensation. The program includes a Labor Arts presentation on the history and importance of the Social Safety Netby Evelyn Rich and Rachel Bernstein.
Date: April 8, 2013 (Monday)
Time: 6:00pm -9:00pm
Place: Borough of Manhattan Community College - Chambers St. (Use #1, #2 or #3 trains).
