Title: Field Representative
Company: NYC Managerial Employees Association

Location: 42 Broadway Street, Suite 1945, New York, NY 10004
Hours: 2 -3 days a week

Salary: Competitive Offer

Under supervision of the Executive Director with policy direction from the MEA President while maintaining a close working relationship with the Organization Committee Chair/MBF Representative, visits field locations to interact with MEA members and to raise the organizations’ visibility to non- members. The Organization Committee Chair/MBF Representative will have responsibility to provide training, direction and field assignments.

The Field Representative:
• Provides detailed health benefits, employee benefits and MBF information to groups and individuals
• Provides member benefits information and answers questions and resolves individual problems.
• Interfaces with MBF and other relevant entities to assist members in receiving their proper benefits; helps prepare appeals as needed
• Provides information about other benefits available to members only
• Interfaces with designated MEA staff to resolve other issues raised by members during field visits
• Recruits new members as contact indicates
• Attends Organization Committee meetings as needed

This individual will seek to remain current on all benefits and to become expert over time so that the membership will be kept abreast of changes and improvements.

Experience and skills

A minimum of two years as a field representative for an advocacy or labor organization, or the equivalent
Strong skills as a team player
Ability to multi-task and meet prescribed schedules and deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (such as Excel and Word)

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills
Experience with health and employee benefit programs
Ability to advocate
