American Heart Month

February marks American Heart Month, a crucial time to focus on cardiovascular health. During this month, communities across the nation join together to raise awareness about heart disease prevention and promote the importance of maintaining good heart health through education and lifestyle changes. This occasion serves as a reminder that while heart disease affects millions of Americans, many risk factors are manageable through healthy lifestyle choices.

The workplace plays a significant role in our daily health choices. Simple changes like taking walking breaks, choosing nutritious snacks, practicing stress management techniques, or organizing walking meetings can contribute to better heart health. This February, consider incorporating these heart-healthy habits into your workday routine.

As part of this important month of awareness, MEA encourages our members to join the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in observing National Wear Red Day this Friday, February 7th. This nationwide campaign brings special attention to heart disease’s impact on Americans, particularly women.

Show your support by wearing red and learning about heart health. To discover more ways to protect your heart through physical activity, healthy eating, adequate sleep, and stress management, visit the NHLBI website here.
