Earth Day

Celebrate Earth Day on April 22. Earth day is a day of recognizing the challenges that we have and the ability for people to really make a difference for our environment.

Car-Free Earth Day is on Saturday, April 23, from 11am – 5pm. Locations in all five boroughs are getting car free designations. You can opt for riding bikes or grab your friends for a walk. Learn more here.

Friends of It’s My Park and NYC parks are hosting event(s) in all five boroughs. Join one of their upcoming projects by yourself or with family members. Volunteers can participate in spring preparation and cleanup. You can make a lasting difference in sustaining local park communities. . Each spring, the NYC Department of Sanitation holds Safe Disposal events to provide NYC residents to get rid of potentially harmful products. Prior to attending a SAFE event, search each part of your home such as your kitchen, bathroom, storage closets, office, basement, or garage to collecting harmful household products. Depending on the product, materials collected will be recycled, blended for fuel, or sent to licensed hazardous waste treatment facilities for safe disposal. Union Square’s annual Earth Day New York are a fantastic way for you and your family to connect to environmental campaigns, green eco-friendly products, and interesting speakers that do great green work!
