Each spring, the NYC Department of Sanitation holds Safe Disposal events to provide NYC residents to get rid of potentially harmful products. Prior to attending a SAFE event, search each part of your home such as your kitchen, bathroom, storage closets, office, basement, or garage to collecting harmful household products. Depending on the product, materials collected will be recycled, blended for fuel, or sent to licensed hazardous waste treatment facilities for safe disposal.
