Fleet Week and Memorial Day

Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start to the summer season. As the weather (slowly) begins to warm up and the city springs to life with activities, it is important to take a moment and reflect on the solemnity of the day and express gratitude for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in serving our country and for those who currently serve.

MEA is honored to represent our members who are former service men and women, list here.

Fleet Week, the annual celebration where various naval ships come and dock in New York Harbor, is celebrating its 36th year! From May 22 to 28, there will be activities across the city to celebrate those in the US Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, all of which are an excellent opportunity to mark Memorial Day.

Public ship tours will be available in different locations around the city, like the USS Bataan from Norfolk, VA at Pier 88 South and USCGC Calhoun from Charleston, SC at Homeport Pier in Staten Island. Other events through the week include concerts from several service bands in Times Square, the Mount Loretto Aviation event featuring Navy and Coast Guard helicopter demos, and a whole host of family-friendly events over at the Intrepid Museum

MEA wishes our members a wonderful Memorial Day Holiday.
