This year, the annual 4th of July fireworks display will take place at Brooklyn Bridge and on four barges positioned at the Seaport District. The fireworks display will feature thousands of shells being fired.
Public viewing is available from locations in Manhattan and Queens with an unobstructed view of the sky above the lower East River where the Brooklyn Bridge and barges are visible. The fireworks display will feature thousands of shells fired from the Brooklyn Bridge and surrounding barges. The display includes:
- Fireworks shells and effects with various colors and shapes
- Musical score synchronized with the fireworks
- Live performances during the event
- Multiple launch points from the Brooklyn Bridge and four barges
Street closures and construction embargoes will be in effect from Friday, June 27, 2025 at 12:01 a.m. through Saturday, July 5th at 6:00 a.m. Additional street closures will occur on July 4th at the discretion of the NYPD.
Below is a summary of major affected areas. For complete street-by-street closure details, refer to NYC’s official street closure notice. Construction embargoes and street closures will affect extensive areas in both Manhattan and Brooklyn.
In Manhattan, closures will impact the Lower East Side and Seaport District, including:
- Area bounded by Grand Street on the North, Catherine Street/Slip on the South, South Street/FDR Drive on the East, and East Broadway on the West
- FDR Drive between Brooklyn Battery Underpass and Delancey Street (including exit/entrance ramps)
- Multiple streets in the Financial District and South Street Seaport area
- Manhattan Bridge access points
In Brooklyn, closures will affect the Brooklyn Bridge area and Red Hook waterfront, including:
- Brooklyn Bridge and surrounding streets
- Areas around DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights waterfront
- Red Hook waterfront streets between Van Brunt Street and the water
- Atlantic Avenue corridor between Furman Street and Flatbush Avenue
