Harris M. Nagler, M.D., FACS is an attending Urologist for the Smith Institute of Urology of Long Island Jewish Medical Center and Professor of Urology at Northwell Hofstra School of Medicine. He is also the President of the Urology Care Foundation, the official foundation of the American Urological Association. He previously was Chair Emeritus of the Sol and Margaret Berger Department of Urology and Professor of Urology, Icahn school of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He had served as President of Beth Israel Mount Sinai, as well as, the Chief of Graduate Medical Education /Academic Affairs; Chair of the Sol and Margaret Department of Urology and the program Director of the Urology residency training program at Beth Israel Medical Center.
Dr Nagler is an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of Temple University School of Medicine which honored him by placing him in the Hall of Fame, as well as, naming him Alumnus of the Year (2015). He completed his urological training and fellowship in reproductive medicine and surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center where he was on the faculty until he moved to Beth Israel to Chair the Department of Urology.
Dr. Nagler is the recipient of many national and regional honors. He has been recognized numerous times in New York Magazine’s Best Doctors listing. Additionally, he has been listed in the Best Doctors in the United States and has been recognized in Becker’s as one of the 130 nonprofit Hospital leaders to know, as well as one of the 300 Hospital and Health Systems Leaders to know.
He has received recognition as a clinician and researcher. Columbia University honored him when he received the prestigious Drs. Harold and Goldman Lampert Award for Excellence in Clinical Research. He has received the ACMI Urology Prize of the American Fertility Society, First Prize for Clinical Research in the American Urological Association Prize Essay Contest and the American Fertility Society Urology Prize. He also received the John K. Lattimer Award of the Kidney and Urology Foundation of America and, in 2007, the Russell Lavengood Award for Distinguished service from the New York Section of the American Urological Association.
Dr. Nagler is a member of many prestigious organizations including the Alpha Omega Alpha medical Honor Society. In addition to membership in these societies he was President of the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction of the American Urological Association, President of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and President of the New York Section of the American Urological Association.
He served as the Chair of both the Ethics and the Judicial Committee of the AUA and By-Laws Committed of the AUA. He has been recognized by the American Urological Association with the Distinguished Service Award He is currently President of the SMRU of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.
He has had many journal editorial responsibilities and is currently on the editorial board of Nature Urology. He has published extensively in peer reviewed journals on many Urological topics with special focus on male infertility and has co-edited four books focusing on the treatment of male infertility.
Dr. Nagler`s practice focuses on male infertility and erectile dysfunction. In 2016, he received the Culman Award of the Mount Sinai Health Care System for Excellence in patient communication in 2016
