During National Consumer Protection Week (March 2-8, 2025), MEA is highlighting resources and tools to help our members safeguard their personal and financial information. Sponsored by the Federal Trade Commission, it aims to help consumers become aware of various scams designed to take their money or important personal information and provides useful tips to help avoid becoming a victim.
Government employees are increasingly becoming targets of sophisticated scams. March 9th has been designated as “Slam the Scam” Day, which is supported by the Social Security Administration. It focuses on scams revolving around Social Security and other government programs. You find the SSA Scam Awareness page here.
The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection also offers a comprehensive set of information on how to protect yourself from scams, including credit repair scams.
If you’re interested in learning more about protecting yourself, visit the official website of National Consumer Protection Week here for free resources and information. MEA encourages all our members to stay informed and vigilant about these important consumer protection issues.
