In celebration of National Youth Day, the MEA proudly recognizes our members at the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), whose leadership transforms the lives of young New Yorkers every day. Through their leadership and dedication, DYCD offers valuable programs and services that shape the future of our city’s youth.
DYCD play a pivotal role in implementing and overseeing programs that serve as national models for youth development. From the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) to after-school initiatives, these programs provide essential opportunities for education, employment, and personal growth to young people across all five boroughs.
One of DYCD’s standout initiatives, the Ladders for Leaders program, exemplifies this commitment to youth development. With applications open through January 20, 2025, this nationally recognized program offers NYC residents aged 16-24 the chance to gain professional experience through paid summer internships. The program provides comprehensive training in workplace readiness, professional etiquette, and career development skills, along with access to an exclusive alumni network for continued professional growth.
MEA is proud to represent the members in our DYCD Chapter.
