- Standard civil service exam fee will be $40 beginning October 2025
- Minimum age requirement reduced to 20.5 years old
NYPD Police Academy training lasts six months, ensuring all recruits will be at least 21 years old upon graduation. NYS Civil Service Law Section 58 sets the minimum appointment age for police officers at 20 years, with options for more restrictive requirements based on departmental needs.
