OTI + National Technology Day

Observed on January 6, National Technology Day is an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the diverse ways that technology has shaped, influenced, and enhanced our world.

The hardworking individuals at the Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) have helped the City harness the power of technology and use it to make New York better connected, more efficient, and safer. Highlights of their work include:

  • Pursuing digital equity across the city, running various programs aimed at improving technology and internet access to historically underserved neighborhoods to protect and promote their full participation in modern city life, including Big Apple Connect, LinkNYC, and NYC Connected Communities.
  • Expanding the MyCity portal, which provides easier access to City services and benefits, with the City’s first AI-powered chatbot and the Jobs NYC portal
  • Their 5 Gigabit Centers, one for each borough, which offer free access to technology and technology training for community members
  • The Smart City Testbed Program, which streamlines the process for City agencies to pilot new and emerging technologies that could one day be used across City government

The MEA would like to thank all our members in the OTI chapter for the work they do; we are proud to have you as part of our membership!
