On November 20, MEA Executive Director Alice Wong joined Department of Veterans’ Services (DVS) Commissioner James Hendon and Office Labor Relations Commissioner Renee Campion in celebrating the incredible contribution veterans make to the fabric of the City workforce at the 3rd Annual Voice for Veterans Breakfast. Their experience and dedication help to create a stronger, more vibrant City.
The event illuminated some of the challenges that make the experience of veterans in City employment unique and offered resources on how the various agencies and unions across the City can better help them.
The DVS offers a wide-range of resources to help veterans outside City service, too, including connections to important services like disability support, employment, and legal support. They help connect veterans with affordable housing, ensure they have access to their VA benefits, and check in on veterans using their volunteer Mission: VetCheck program.
MEA is proud of all of our veteran members and we thank them for their service to both country and city.
