Retirees participating in the City’s GHI Senior Care plan should prepare for the possibility of $15 copays for doctor visits beginning in January 2025.
In January 2023, Judge Lyle Frank of the New York State Supreme Court put a stay on the City’s effort to impose the $15 copays after the New York City Organization of Public Service Retirees argued that they were not permitted based on the terms of the City’s contract with GHI.
This year, the City and GHI renegotiated their contract to allow for the copayments. Thus, Judge Frank lifted his stay on August 1st.
