Member Highlight: Marilyn Melgar-Miranda

Meet the MEA ACS Chapter Representative, Recording Secretary Marilyn Melgar-Miranda.

Marilyn is the Director of the Office of Child Safety and Injury Prevention (OCSIP) at NYC Administrations for Children Service. With 21 years in City service, Marilyn’s career includes serving children, youth, and families. Marilyn draws on her extensive child welfare since beginning her career at ACS as a Child Protective Specialist in 2001. She has management experience in leading strategic planning, community outreach and engagement, curriculum development, and public awareness campaigns focused on sleep-related injury deaths for infants. She also supports the expansion of the ACS Office of Child Safety and Injury Prevention, established in 2021, to advance the agency’s efforts to prevent avoidable childhood injuries and support NYC families with children under six.

Marilyn holds an MPA in Public Affairs and Administration from Metropolitan College of New York and a BA in Human Ecology/Spanish from SUNY Oneonta. She is pursuing a Ph.D. at Adler University to earn a doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership.
