Today, the MEA would like to send out a special thanks to the nurses around the City who help keep New Yorkers in good health to honor National Nurses Week. The theme of this year’s Nurses Week is “Nurses Make A Difference”, which we are able to see every day throughout the five boroughs. As frontline workers, they serve the citizens of our city for a variety of ailments and have been instrumental in helping us weather the events of the last few years.
Governor Hochul has launched an initiative to bolster the healthcare industry, with a sizeable section of the budget allocated to help this happen. She also announced that the “Nurses of the Future” scholarship is now open for applications. The scholarship allows new or current healthcare workers to gain nursing degrees through CUNY or SUNY institutions, which you can read more about here.
