Social Security Benefit Statements

Reminder to review your social security account each year. As the year is reaching its end, it’s a good time to take stock of everything that has happened since January, and this is especially true for your finances!

For those collecting Social Security benefits, your my Social Security account now has copies of your annual Benefits Statement (aka SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S) for the last six years. Your Benefits Statement is used when filing your taxes, and details how much Social Security income needs to be reported to the IRS.

A my Social Security account is beneficial even for those not currently collecting!  You can receive estimates for future benefits; find resources to help you prepare for retirement, Social Security, and Medicare; and request a replacement Social Security card. It is never too early to plan for your financial future.
