Stargazing on the High Line

Looking for a unique way to connect with the cosmos in New York City? The High Line offers free stargazing sessions every Tuesday evening from April through October 2025. Participants can observe planets, stars, and other celestial objects through professional telescopes. Sessions run from sunset until 30 minutes before park closure at the Little West 12th Street location.

The Amateur Astronomers Association of New York provides high-powered telescopes and knowledgeable volunteers for these programs. No experience, reservations, or equipment is needed. This partnership has been ongoing since the park opened in 2009.

Sessions may be cancelled due to weather conditions. Cancellation announcements will be posted on the High Line website and @highlinenyc’s X feed by 3pm on scheduled days.

The program runs from April 1st through October 28th, 2025, and welcomes visitors of all ages at no cost.
