THC Infused Candy – Warning – June 15 2019 – Appalachia HIDTA
Parcels containing 7.5 lbs. of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) infused candy intercepted. Packages
of candy displayed warnings to keep out of the reach of children and animals, however, their use of
bright colors, novel shapes, and promotional characters makes this packaging appear similar to
commercially available products. A study found that packages containing festive writing and common naming conventions, such as “Nerds” and “Ropes” commonly found on commercial candy products along with descriptive flavoring, would make products highly appealing to children and youths
